Terms of Service
Last updated: September 23, 2026
1. Agreeing to these Terms
These Terms are an agreement between you and Truth or Pulse ("we", "us") covering your use of the Truth or Pulse app (the "App"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the App.
Our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy explain what we do with your data. They are part of these Terms.
2. Who can use Truth or Pulse
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in most places), you need a parent or guardian's permission.
- Featured Pulses (section 7) is only for people 18 or older.
- You must give your real date of birth. If you don't, or you're under 16, we'll delete your account.
- You can't use the App if the law or an earlier ban from us prevents you.
3. Your account
You sign in with a phone number you control. Keep your phone secure, since whoever has it can get into your account, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Your @username must not impersonate anyone or break section 6.
4. How the game works
- A friend sends you a Pulse: three questions you can't see until you start recording.
- You answer on camera in one take. Once you start there are no retakes, and if you leave partway through, the Pulse is used up.
- If you allow it, your heart rate appears on the video. The person who sent the Pulse can watch your heart rate live while you record, including on their Lock Screen, and can watch the full video with your heart rate afterwards.
- The App gives playful verdicts based on your heart rate. See section 8: they mean nothing about whether you're telling the truth.
5. Your content
You own it
Your videos, questions and profile belong to you. To run the App, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, process, display and send your content to the people these Terms and your settings allow to see it. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies already shared with your permission and the uses in section 7.
Saving and sharing
- You can save or share a Pulse you answered.
- If you sent the Pulse, you can only save or share it after the person who answered approves. Never screen-record, save or post someone's Pulse any other way.
- The person who answered can take their approval back. That stops new copies, but it can't pull back copies already saved or posted.
Other people in your video
Only record where you're allowed to, and only include other people who have agreed to be in it.
You're responsible for it
You're responsible for the questions you send and the answers you record. We don't check content before it's sent, but we may remove anything that breaks these Terms.
6. What you must not do
- Harass, bully, threaten, humiliate or intimidate anyone, including with the questions you send.
- Send sexual questions or content to anyone under 18, or send anyone sexual content they didn't ask for.
- Post anything illegal, hateful, violent, or that sexualises or endangers a minor.
- Share someone's Pulse or heart rate without their permission, or use it to shame, pressure or blackmail them.
- Pretend to be someone else, or lie about your age.
- Spam people, or use bots, scripts or automated tools with the App.
- Try to get round our security, blocks or age limits, access data you aren't meant to, or reverse-engineer the App.
- Use the App commercially without our written permission.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, sometimes without warning when someone's safety is at risk.
Reporting
You can block a friend from their profile in the App. To report a person, a question or a video, email support@truthorpulse.com with their @username and what happened. We review reports and act on them as quickly as we can, and within 24 hours for anything involving a risk to someone's safety or a minor.
7. Featured Pulses
If you're 18 or older, you can submit a Pulse you answered to be featured. By submitting it and ticking the box, you give us permission to post that one Pulse, including your face, voice and heart rate, on the official Truth or Pulse accounts on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and to use it in our own marketing. We may trim it or change its format, and credit your social handle if you give one.
- It only covers the Pulse you submit, nothing else.
- You won't be paid.
- We might not use it.
- You can withdraw it in the App at any time. We'll take down our posts, but we can't recall copies other people have already saved or reposted.
- We don't name the person who sent the questions.
- Only submit a Pulse if everyone in it is happy to appear publicly.
8. Heart rate is for fun
Truth or Pulse is a game. It is not a lie detector, not a medical device, and not a diagnostic tool. Heart rate rises for all sorts of reasons: nerves, laughing, moving, coffee, a sensor waking up. Readings can be late, missing or wrong. Don't use anything the App shows to judge whether someone is honest, or to make any decision about their health or anything else. If you're worried about your heart, talk to a doctor.
9. Our app
The App, its design, code, graphics and the Truth or Pulse name and logo belong to us. You may use the App as these Terms allow, but you may not copy, modify, distribute or build on it without our written permission.
10. Purchases
There's currently nothing to buy in the App. If we add purchases or subscriptions, they'll go through Apple's App Store under Apple's payment and refund rules, and we'll show you the price and terms before you pay.
11. Ending your account
You
You can delete your account at any time in the App: Settings (the gear icon) → Danger Zone → Delete Account. Deletion happens straight away and can't be undone. It deletes every Pulse you were part of, for both people, including Pulses you sent and the answers your friends recorded to them. The Privacy Policy lists what remains.
Us
We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other users. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent the law allows:
- The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We don't promise the App will always work, be error-free or be secure.
- We make no claim that heart-rate readings are accurate or say anything about truthfulness, emotions or health.
- We aren't responsible for what users send, record or share, or for how users treat each other.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows:
- Truth or Pulse is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages.
- Our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $100.
- We aren't liable for harm caused by user content, interactions between users, or relying on heart-rate readings.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived by contract.
14. Indemnification
You agree to cover Truth or Pulse's losses, including reasonable legal fees, from claims caused by your content, your use of the App, or your breaking these Terms.
15. Disputes
- Talk to us first: email support@truthorpulse.com and we'll try to sort it out informally.
- Binding arbitration: if we can't, you agree to resolve the dispute through binding arbitration rather than in court, except for small claims court.
- No class actions: disputes are resolved individually, not as part of a class action.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal proceedings shall be conducted in the courts of Delaware.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the App before they take effect. If you keep using the App after that, you accept the new Terms. If you don't, you can delete your account.
18. The legal bits
- Entire agreement: these Terms and our privacy policies are the whole agreement between you and us about the App.
- Severability: if part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- No waiver: if we don't enforce something straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment: you can't transfer these Terms to someone else. We can, for example if the App is sold.
- Apple: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the App or its support, and Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these Terms as third-party beneficiaries.
